What are we going to eat at Easter?

First of all, the first thing I wish you is to have a great time with the people you love. And to do that, you need good friends/relatives, music and a wonderful meal to accompany these moments. From a young age I remember looking forward to these meetings, as I had a great time and of course I was eating delicious food. In the last years I have managed to create new, unique flavors with ingredients and materials that I didn’t even know they existed. These ingredients are now like diamonds for me, since in addition to the fact that they excited me deliciously, they gave me great inspiration to create recipes that are finally much loved. Today’s recipe is on of these!

Some words about Soy Fillets…

Soy fillets are a dry product, which can be sold by kilo, which is very convenient, as you can get the amount you want or packaged. I personally buy them by kilo, as it is a material that I use a lot in my kitchen, so when I visit my favorite store to do these purchases, I usually end up leaving with 2-3 kilos of fillets, the same amount of soy kebabs (see here the recipe for the best Soy Souvlaki) and of course some kilos of soy mince. As you have figured, I love soya. A footnote to make here: these fillets are very likely to be found in the market in Greece as soy burgers. Also, as mentioned above, they are in dry form, so they don’t spoil and you can keep them for a long time in your home without of course needing a refrigerator.

Drunken Soy Fillets

This is one of my favorite recipes that I have cooked a lot over the years. You don't wanna miss the most delicious soy fillets! Try them and I am sure you will be thrilled!

Ingredients
  

  • 15 soy fillets
  • 1 dry onion
  • 2 fresh onions
  • 4 tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp. onion powder
  • 1 tbsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp. tomato puree
  • 1 tsp. mustard
  • 1 tsp. curry
  • 1 pinch of freshly ground pepper
  • 15 g corn flour
  • 300 ml white whine
  • thyme

Instructions
 

  • Add the fillets and let them boil for 10 minutes in 1L of boiling water.
  • Remove the water from the fillets by draining them very well in a colander.
  • Put the fillets, after they have cooled and you can touch them, in a bowl.
  • Add the salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, curry, mustard, smoked paprika, soy sauce and 1 tbsp of olive oil and mix very well so that they spread evenly on all the fillets.
  • Leave them aside for 15 minutes.
  • Then, chop the onions (dry and fresh) and the garlic.
  • Put the remaining 3 tbsp of olive oil in a pan and we add the onion. We fry it for 5 minutes.
  • About 1 minute before finishing the frying, add the garlic and stir.
  • Lower the heat to medium and add the fillets, making sure to turn them on both sides. Fry them for 5 minutes.
  • Quench with white wine.
  • Then, add 500ml hot water and the corn flour.
  • Stir and leave them for another 40 minutes with the lid closed over medium heat until they bind.
  • Serve with thyme and enjoy!

Notes

Extra Tip No1: You can replace the water and the vegetable cube with vegetable broth.
Extra Tip No2: You can accompany our meal with rice, potatoes or whatever you love.
