Baked Yellow Split Pea Balls (Favokeftedes)

Today we cook the most delicious protein balls from yellow split peas, which everyone who tries them will love! It is a perfect meal as the main course or as a snack too.

Ingredients
  

  • 250 g yellow split peas (fava beans)
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 onion
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 3 tbsp cornflour
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 pinch of pepper
  • ½ bunch of dill
  • 75 g breadcrumbs

Instructions
 

  • Boil the fava beans in 500ml water for about 20 minutes, taking care to skim it regularly.
  • Remove as much water as possible in a colander and drain it well.
  • Next, peel and chop the carrot, onion, and garlic cloves.
  • Add the fava beans, carrot, onion, garlic, olive oil, salt, and pepper to a blender.
  • Beat the ingredients in the blender for 1-2 minutes.
  • Remove the mixture from the blender and pour it into a bowl.
  • Add the cornflour and dill (chopped) to the bowl, and mix them well.
  • Add the breadcrumbs to a bowl.
  • Form small balls of 45g with your hands and then throw them in the breadcrumbs, covering each side.
  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • Spread parchment paper in a pan, place the favaballs and bake them for 1 hour, turning them on both sides.
  • Serve them accompanied by our favorite dip.
  • Enjoy!

Extra Tip: Accompany the favaballs with a super cool yogurt sauce!
